After seeing The Last Jedi and realizing that I both like and dislike the "new" MC-85 Mon Calamari Star Cruiser Raddus
, I've decided to do my own take on it and redesign the class while incorporating the overall hull shape of the Viscount-class Star Defender from EU/Legends.
Using the Viscount as a base, I've incorporated the MC-85's main and secondary bridges, the "ion ram scoop" cutout on the underside, the side hangars with "battlestar-style" landing strips and the underslung cutback facing the rear of the ship. The remainder of the ship uses general Mon Cal equipment and weapons.
With regards to the stats of the ship, I've gone with better stats than the MC-85 but nothing near the completely outlandish stats of the Viscount. For a 3.4 km long ship, the MC-85 is horribly under powered and the Viscount has the exact opposite problem in that it's crazily over-armed.
I've also decided to re-use the MC-90 designation from EU/Legends because I never liked the original MC-90 design but I don't want to override the MC-85 either.DATA FILEManufacturer

Designed to supplement the New Republic Defense Forces during the waning days of the Galactic Empire, the MC-90 Star Defender came into service when victory had already been nearly secured. The first ship of the class, the "Pillar of Truth,
" rolled off the assembly line over Mon Cala less than a year after the Battle of Jakku and would go on to serve the New Republic honorably for the next 12 years.
During her service, the Pillar of Truth
conducted enforcement actions along the newly established borders of the Empire, ensuring that treaty stipulations were being met by all parties involved. Assigned her own contingent of escort ships, including Nebulon-C and Free Virgillia-class ships, the Pillar
and her escorts would eventually form the core of the Outer Rim Fleet.
Upon her decommissioning, the Pillar of Truth
returned to the shipyards over Mon Cala where she was stripped of the majority of her crew-intensive systems and retrofitted with significant droid automation, allowing for fewer crew should she need to be re-activated. Years later, with the First Order having destroyed the Hosnian system and decapitated the New Republic, Mon Cala shipwrights would quietly transfer the Pillar of Truth
, now renamed the Ackbar
, to the Resistance for use as their new flagship in their conflict to restore peace and freedom to the galaxy.
